The Lining of the Uterus

The thickness of the lining of the uterus is vital in maintaining pregnancy. Failed IVF and ICSI cycles are often thought to be associated with insufficient endometrial thickness. In order to sustain a pregnancy and reduce chance of early miscarriage, endometrial thickness should be between 10-15mm. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine have been shown in scientific trials to make a significant difference to endometrial thickness, by increasing oestregen and progesterone production and by promoting ovarian and uterine blood flow. (See Progesterone and Uterine artery blood flow).
